Kari Jo Porter knew what it meant to give care -- she lived it daily, as a professional caregiver and as a friend, mother, wife, daughter, and sister.  In her final months, she chose to remain at home, surrounded by the people and memories that gave her life meaning.  This choice required 24-hour professional in-home care alongside the love and dedication of her family.

Most of the cost -- thousands of dollars -- was paid directly out of pocket.  It was a heavy financial burden, but one Kari's loved ones bore gladly to honor her wishes to remain home in her final time.  KariKares is committed to lifting that burden from other families, so the focus can be where it belongs:  on love, dignity, and peace during life's final chapter.

KariKares exists to honor the life and legacy of Kari Jo Porter by providing financial assistance and resources for in-home end-of-life care to patients who cannot afford the expense, ensuring that no family faces the final chapter of life without dignity, comfort, and love.
